Dr. Cheryl AckermanDr. Cheryl A. Ackerman
Dr. Ackerman has been a registered clinical psychologist since 1989, having graduated with a Hons. Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from York University. Before co-founding the Developmental Clinic in 1995, Dr. Ackerman was the psychologist for intensive programmes at the Griffin Centre where she worked with dual diagnosed adolescents (developmental disability and mental health diagnosis or behavioural challenges). She has published several articles in the area of anxiety and, as a stepparent herself, has a particular interest in blended families. Dr. Ackerman supervises psychological and psychoeducational assessments for children, teens and university/college students. In addition, she practices psychodynamic therapy and is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She is also highly skilled in parenting approaches, individual and family therapy as well as marital/relationship issues. As the director of The Developmental Clinic, Dr. Ackerman does her best to ensure that your experience with us will be both comfortable and rewarding.
